The Weight of History: Race and Public Policy in St. Louis
6/17/2021 - 6/17/2021
4:30 PM - 6:00 PM

Event Description
Why does St. Louis have some of the starkest racial disparities in the United States?  The foremost answer:  centuries of public policies that deprived African Americans of an equal opportunity for a good life.  Ending racial inequity begins with understanding these policies, probing why as William Faulkner wrote, “ the past is not dead—it’s not even past.”
