Description:

Plants are essential to the health of the planet as well as our own health. Plants put oxygen in the air, sequester carbon, produce fibers, fuel, food, medicine, and more. Join Danforth Center scientist Toni Kutchan, PhD, Oliver M. Langenberg Distinguished Investigator and Danforth Center VP for Research, and St. Louis Forum member, for an overview on how plant scientists at the Danforth Plant Science Center are working to feed the world while healing the planet through the power of plants.

Toni will be joined by Stephanie Regagnon, executive director of innovation partnerships for the Danforth Center, and former CEO of FieldWatch, who will discuss the third part of the Danforth Center mission: enhancing the St. Louis region as a world center for plant science. Stephanie oversees BRDG Park on the Danforth campus, which is part of the burgeoning 39 North innovation district attracting new companies and talent to St. Louis. Plant science can have a positive impact on both St. Louis and people around the world.

Founded in 1998, the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center has a mission to improve the human condition through plant science. Today, the Center is the largest independent nonprofit dedicated to plant science in the world and home to more than 300 community members.
